Are these online casinos legal in Ontario?
Yes. Every operator we rank is registered with iGaming Ontario (iGO) and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). Ontario's regulated market opened on April 4, 2022, and only registered operators may legally offer real-money casino play to Ontario residents. We do not list grey-market or offshore sites.
Do you cover sports betting too?
Yes. Northernstakes now covers Ontario's licensed sportsbooks alongside casinos. Independent reviews — scoring market depth, in-play tools, payout reliability and compliance record — are in progress, and we don't publish a rating until a review is complete. What does "iGO licensed" or "AGCO registered" mean?
iGaming Ontario (iGO) is the provincial body that contracts with private operators; the AGCO is the regulator that registers them and enforces standards on advertising, responsible gambling, and anti-money-laundering. An operator marked "iGO licensed" has cleared both and is legally accountable in Ontario.
How does Northernstakes rank operators?
We score each operator from 0–10 across weighted areas — for casinos: game catalogue, cashier and payouts, live dealer, support, and mobile — using the public record (the iGO registry, AGCO filings, and operators' published terms). Independent cashier benchmarking is in progress. Our full methodology is published, and rankings are never sold.
Why don't you show bonuses or welcome offers?
AGCO advertising Standard 2.05 restricts the public display of bonuses and inducements for Ontario iGaming. In line with that standard, we don't show bonus amounts or "risk-free" language anywhere on the site.
What's happening with PokerStars and Alberta?
PokerStars closed its standalone Ontario casino on May 7, 2026 and is migrating accounts to FanDuel, so we've paused that review. Separately, Alberta's regulated online market is scheduled to open on July 13, 2026 — we're tracking it ahead of launch.
